Maglev (Pty) Ltd was founded in 2025 by Dr Ryan Hawthorne, with the intention of providing information to the South African Department of Transport, Transnet and the Passenger Rail Association of South Africa on the prospects for using ultra high speed magnetic levitation (maglev) technology for passenger and freight rail services in South Africa.
